My Photo friend is moving away…

Yes, in a few weeks, my dear friend Deborah Vaia
and her husband are moving home to California.
I was trying to find all of my images of her that
I promised months ago to burn a dvd and came across
one of my favorite shoots we did together. So, in
my mourning mood, I decided to edit this image. Deborah
was a sport and modeled my antique blouse, and a long
brown velvet tablecloth made into a skirt with her
Dior shoes and tulle on top of a vintage hat!
We had so much fun and I ended up with a boat load
of great images. I don’t know anyone with the same passion
for Fashion photography as Deborah, and we had so many
shoots together over the past few years shooting aspiring
models to our hearts content. We met in Charlie Freeman’s
fashion photo class the last semester he was alive.
So much was learned that semester, probably the most influential
class i have taken thus far. Deborah and I began collaborating
on shoots from then on and I will surely miss her being here
in Dallas! The next two weeks will be hard knowing she is soon
to move, but hopefully we can get into just as much trouble
in California once she gets settled. Love you Deborah!

White Rock Lake, driving in Dallas when the crackles hit the
telephone lines, McKinney-dinner at Square Burger with
Sandra after Fringe The Event Thursday night preview…
Saturday back to check out a few houses, EAT at Spoons, and
then to visit my favorite angel in town… plus a few from
last week at Patina Green and Smitten and Chase Hall…

Off to McKinney I went late today, and found
a few Christmas items on sale that of course,
I couldn’t resist! Patina Green, Smitten Flea,
Homepieces just to name a few that have great 50%
off sales on! I may just have to go again tomorrow
to see what I missed! Be sure to check their hours…

Mr.Horse steals the show!

After working on my photo clubs Christmas party, Dickens in Dallas,

I decided to use a little idea from my tables there at home. Using old

books as risers, I don’t have enough Victorian or Dickens style cottages

so I pulled Mr. Horse into action! He loves being the center of attention

and so there he sits on my dining room table, waiting for company tomorrow!

There’s a New Kid in Town!

Yep, there’s still more to do in McKinney! More
shops, more antiques, more re purposed, more
necessities! OF Course! Treasure Spotters is the newest
gig in town, the 1st weekend of the month, even though
last weekend was the premiere! Chase Hall, Smitten Flea
and Homepieces had a fun open house last Sunday with a
great turnout in spite of the rainy, miserable day! Only
truly dedicated antiquarians and McKinni-ians would get out
in that rain!

Yep, just about anywhere you go on the Square in
McKinney, it is total overload of beauty, sparkle,
festive glitz! Dickens on the Square was
a huge success and goes thru Sunday I believe…
You would think i have better things to do than to hang
out in McKinney two days in a row! Guess not…Yesterday
I met Waverly up there to pick up a couple of mirrors I
found for a house I am helping her Dad redo and so she went
up to pick them up and I met her there to show her the
ropes! Boy did we have fun, going into all of my fav’s
and meeting all my friends at the shops!
So today, she headed back up to pick up a few chairs she
found yesterday and brought her friend Emily as well.
So, off to McKinney I go again, to show them yet more
greatness and beauty and then on to Spoons Garage to
have a taste of my favorite potato soup! I have to say,
we did some damage there in McKinney… maybe you should
too! I still have more images to post but need to stop
for dinner so check back later to see what else we spotted

Dickens on the Square-where else? McKinney!

Head out to McKinney in the morning, and you will find the
square covered in things to do for kids of all ages! Ton’s of
rides, and entertainment for the little ones and of course
all of my favorite shops are ready to help you with ideas
for gifts! You will see ton’s of glitter, vintage ornaments
and all kinds of unique, non mall type items! The old
lumberyard on the other side of Hwy 5 also has a great flea
market on Saturday as well. Even my friend Vince is there from
Princeton and some items from his great shop GoodLook.
Stop in at Patina Green for a great organic salad or sandwich
and a few chocolates as well as the best iced tea! Grab some of
Robert’s great salsa to take home!
I may even have to go again as there was just too much to see!

How not to Shop at the Mall on Black Friday…

Head to downtown McKinney and visit FRINGE the event, and Vincent at
his shop GoodLook set up at Old Lumberyard and Antique and Junk sale!
And yes, Fringe is open again since so much is happening
in Downtown McKinney this weekend, why it might even be Dicken’s
on the Square weekend as well!
